Ascension Day

May 1st, 2008

As many british citizens are probably unaware, today is ascension day. Many other european countries have national holidays with parades through cities and festivals. But not Britain.

Ascension day is when Jesus Christ physically ascended into heaven to sit at God’s right hand. 40 days ago He was resurrected according to God’s promise. The ascension was physical because Jesus’ body was resurrected. The spirit doesn’t die, nor does the soul, so only the body can be resurrected from the dead. Therefore the ascension must also be physical.

Even though the resurrection was phsyical, during His time on earth between Easter and when He ascended, He appeared as different people, showing that even though he was still in a physical body, he had power over matter and energy to change how he looked.

6 MONTHS!!!!

March 24th, 2007

last Thursday (22nd) Dani took me out to celebrate us being together for 6th months! We went to the Pink Giraffe which is a really nice Chinese restraunt in Oxford, then we went to see Hot Fuzz at the Odeon. That is a very good film, but I found it a bit scary!

Tonight I am meant to be going out to a birthday thing, I think we are going on a bit of a pub crawl. Sounds really good but I dont know when we are meeting or how I am going to get back to Wheatley!

got to go and have a shower now, ttfn

I found tis on facebook and wanted to share it with you all - it is sooooo true!

YOU KNOW YOU’VE BEEN IN UNIVERSITY TOO LONG WHEN…

You actually like doing laundry at home where the washing
machines work.

Two miles is not too far to walk for a party.

You’d rather clean than study especially if an essay is due.

“Oh shit how did it get so late!” comes out of your mouth at
least once a night.

Parents’ cooking becomes something you desire, not avoid.

You schedule your classes around sleep habits and soap operas
especially neighbours and Hollyoaks.

You know the pizza boy by name and don’t even need to read the
menu.

You go to sleep when it’s light and get up when it’s dark.

You live for getting mail.

Looking out the window is a form of entertainment.

Prank phone calls become funny again.

You start thinking and sounding like your friends and your
accent becomes a hybrid of West Country, Surrey and general
Northern.

Highlighters are the coolest things on earth.

Rearranging your room is your favourite pastime.

Rubbish cheap £1 shops are so cool.

The weekend lasts from Thursday to Monday.

BEFORE I CAME TO UNIVERSITY, I WISH I HAD KNOWN…

That it didn’t matter how late my first lecture was, I’d still sleep
through it.

That I could change so much and barely realize it.

That you can love a lot of people in a lot of different ways.

No matter how ‘cool’ you were in school, no one here cares.

That if you wear polyester everyone will ask why you are so
dressed up.

That every clock on campus shows a different time.

That if you got good a-levels, so what? It doesn’t matter here.

That I would go to a party the night before an exam or essay
due-date.

That you can know everything and fail a test.

That you can know nothing and ace a test.

That I could get used to almost anything found out about my
friends.

That most of my education would be obtained outside of lectures.

That friendship is more than getting drunk together but that’s
still funny……!

That Sunday is a figment of the world’s imagination.

That Psychology is really Biology, that Biology is really
Chemistry, that Chemistry is really Physics and that Physics is
really Maths.

That my parents would become so much smarter in the last few
years.

That it’s possible to be alone even when you are surrounded by
friends.

Don’t be dismayed at good-byes, a farewell is necessary before
we can meet again, and meeting again, after moments or a
lifetime, is certain for those who are friends.

TOP 10 REASONS THAT UNIVERSITY IS LIKE PRIMARY SCHOOL

10. You cry for your mother.
9. You cross the street without looking for cars.
8. Snack time is a necessity.
7. You bundle up for the outdoors without caring what you look
like (because everyone else looks as stupid as you do).
6. You stay at home and play games with your friends.
5. You wear your backpack on both shoulders.
4. You wear big mittens.
3. Playing in the snow is a legitimate activity.
2. You take naps.
1. You look forward to cheese toasties.

Weekend in Londinium

March 8th, 2007

Off to london at 7:30 tomorrow! Have to get the first bus to Headington and then get the Oxford Tube to Victoria. I will be staying with Dan’s family in Erith again, so will be able to go to Bluewater and go to the bonsai shop there.

A*

March 7th, 2007

A* algorithm that is!

Got a stinking headache at the moment but still have half of a bit of coursework to do by friday, and my maths for monday. The coursework I am doing is about different searching methods to find paths from a start point to finish point. The A* algorithm is probably the best path finding algorithm out there, but it is very long winded.

Going to London for the weekend to go shopping - twill be much fun-ness!

Bah!

March 5th, 2007

I feel like nibbling on lots of random fod at the moment.

The bird feeder outside my window is doing very well, it seems that every time I move around I scare off birdies!

Yesterday, on the way back from Asda, I saw a baby bunny rabbit hopping around on the bank by the road up to Wheatley campus. It looked like it had an eye infection in both eyes, and it wasn’t scared of us at all. I just wanted to pick it up and give it a hug, but I didn’t want it to be abandoned by its family if I did, so I just left it alone. It was so sad. I hope it gets better, and finds its family again.

When I am older I want a really big garden, full of wild animals for me to feed. Maybe I am just being naive.

I have another 3 bits of coursework to do. I need to finish my C and Unix coursework for wednesday, start and finish my Foundations of Intelligent Systems coursework for friday and finish my Maths coursework for next tuesday.

I have a roooooom!

February 28th, 2007

Finally sorted out my living arrangements for next year. I have got a room in a house for 4 on a road leading off Wheatley Campus. I originally wanted a room in 2 College Close, but when I went into the accommodation office a group of people had just taken the whole house. So I ended up getting a room in 7 College Close instead. So all I need to do now is sign the contract, pay the £200 booking fee, and wait to find out who my house mates are!

Snow

February 8th, 2007

Woke up this morning to find a world covered from sky to earth in white! Looking out of my window I can see lots of people having snowball fights. I think Dan and me will be going for a walk in the snow later, and I can build a snowman!!! I took some photos of the snow out of my window to show you the view but the camara focused on the glass instead so they look really fuzzy.
I have an assignment for C and Unix to do today, which means doing a lot of command line stuff, and writing some small programs in C.

My little brother is visting me for the weekend on the 24th and 25th of February, planing on going to the Pitt Rivers museum to show him lots of shrunken heads and stuff like that - lovely!

Both of my Bonsai are doing splendily with buds and new leaves appearing all over the Privet and the Oak.

I have been trying to contact my singing teacher about having more lessons, but I keep getting an answer phone message, so I will try to email her instead soon.

I better go and do some work.

See ya
